Tournament rules

1. ABOUT1.1 These General Rules set out the general terms and conditions that apply to Casino.org Tournaments. By registering for Casino.org Tournaments, you are indicating your agreement to these General Rules. If you do not wish to be bound by these General Rules, please close your account.1.2 For each tournament, these General Rules will be supplemented by “Specific Rules” that set out additional terms and conditions that apply to each particular tournament. Matters covered by Specific Rules are identified further below. Specific Rules will be published in close proximity to the entry point for each tournament (usually underneath the “More info” button). If there is any inconsistency between these General Rules and any Specific Rules, the Specific Rules shall prevail (to the extent of any such inconsistency).1.3 In addition to the General Rules and Specific Rules which apply to tournaments, we also recommend that you read and consider the following:1.3.1 Our Terms of Service (this applies to your visit to our website in general); and1.3.2 Our Privacy Policy (this provides information on how we process your data).In the event of any inconsistency between our Terms of Service and the General Rules or Specific Rules, the General Rules and Specific Rules shall prevail.2. ELIGIBILITY2.1 To participate in tournaments, you must first register an account. 2.2 To open an account, you must satisfy all the following conditions: 2.2.1 You must be at least:(a) 19 years old if located in Ontario; or(b) if you are located anywhere else, the higher of: (i) 18 years old; or (ii) the legal gambling age in your territory.2.2.2 You must not have another existing account (or had a previous account closed by us for breach of these General Rules). 2.2.3 You must not be an employee of Casino.org, a family member of an employee, an agent, agency or anyone else that is professionally connected with tournaments. 2.2.4 You must not be located in a “Restricted Territory” (set out in clause 2.4 below).2.3 When opening an account:2.3.1 You are only permitted to open an account for yourself and not for any other person.2.3.2 You must provide accurate registration details as verification checks will be carried out (see further below). If you are found to have entered incorrect registration details upon verification, we reserve the right to close the account, withhold any prizes won and/or disqualify all your tournament entries. 2.3.3 You will not select a username that is offensive, harmful, immoral, repugnant or otherwise unreasonable. 2.3.4 You acknowledge that your username may be displayed in leaderboards and therefore you will not include personally identifiable information in your username if you do not want to be identified by other participants. 2.4 Individuals located in the following territories are currently not eligible to register for, or participate in, Tournaments: Afghanistan, Australia, Belarus, Central African Republic, China, Democratic Republic of Congo, Cuba, France, Greece, Republic of Guinea, Republic of Guinea-Bissau, Hong Kong, Haiti, India, Iran, Iraq, Italy, Lebanon, Libya, Mali, Malta, Myanmar, Netherlands, Nicaragua, North Korea, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Russia, Somalia, South Sudan, Syria, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States of America, Venezuela, Yemen and Zimbabwe (the “Restricted Territories” and each a “Restricted Territory”).We may make changes to the Restricted Territories at any time by updating these General Rules.2.5 Notwithstanding that we have designated certain territories as Restricted Territories, it is and remains your responsibility to understand the laws applicable to you in your territory and to comply with the same in relation to tournaments. By registering for, or participating in, tournaments, you confirm that you understand the laws applicable to you and you are aware of no law that would prohibit or limit your participation in tournaments. 2.6 We may for some tournaments designate additional Restricted Territories or that only individuals located in certain named territories are eligible to enter. In such cases, we will either make it clear in the Specific Rules which territories are eligible to enter or we will only display the tournament to individuals with an IP address located within the eligible territories. If you distort your location to enter a tournament that you are not eligible for, this will be considered a material breach of these General Rules and we will disqualify you from the tournament and may close your account. 2.7 If we discover that you have breached any of the rules set out in this Clause 2, we may disqualify you from any tournaments you have entered, withhold any prizes won and/or close your account.3. ENTRY CONDITIONS3.1 No purchase is necessary to enter or win. Tournaments are completely free-to-play. Participants do not have to make any kind of purchase to enter or participate in the tournament. It is not possible to increase the number of entries or chances of winning by spending money. 3.2 To enter any tournament and be eligible to win any prizes on offer, you must: 3.2.1 hold an account; 3.2.2 continue to satisfy all of the conditions set out in clause 2.2 and 2.4-2.6 above; and 3.2.3 meet any other entry criteria that may apply (as set out in the Specific Rules). 3.3 You may enter tournaments that you are eligible for on the Tournaments homepage whilst logged in. Instructions on how to participate will be set out on the homepage. 3.4 The time and date that each tournament is first open for entries (“Opening Time”) and the time and date that tournament entries must be completed (“Closing Time”) will be outlined in the Specific Rules. You must fully complete your entry by the designated Closing Time for it to count. 3.4.1 We reserve the right in our absolute discretion to hold, void, suspend, cancel, extend or reschedule any tournament at any time and without notice. 3.5 You may not enter more times than indicated by using multiple accounts, identities, or devices in an attempt to circumvent the rules. If you do so, we will disqualify you from the tournament, withhold any prizes won and / or close your account(s).3.6 Any entries that are not completed in time or which do not meet all the entry criteria will be disqualified. Winners will be verified in accordance with clause 6.4. WINNER SELECTION4.1 The method by which the winner is determined for each tournament will be set out in the Specific Rules. If no method is specified, the participant with the highest score will win the 1st prize, followed by the player with the second highest score (and so forth).4.2 Your chance of winning is dependent on the total number of eligible entries received. 4.3 In the event of a tie, tied participants will be ranked in the order that they completed their entry with those that completed their entry earlier being ranked higher.5. PRIZES5.1 Prizes will be set out in the Specific Rules for each tournament. 5.2 Unless stated otherwise, prizes will be awarded via email as a virtual pre-paid visa card. If you win a prize, we will contact you with further information on how to claim your prize.5.3 Prizes may be delivered on our behalf by a third party payout provider. In order to claim your prize, our payout provider may require you to pass additional verification checks in order to satisfy their legal obligations. We reserve the right to withhold any prize won until you pass such checks. 5.4 All virtual pre-paid visa cards are subject to additional terms and conditions which will be disclosed to you at the time of delivery. Please ensure you read these carefully as they will specify how and when you can use the card.5.5 In our absolute discretion, we may decide to payout prizes in an alternative way – for example as a cash transfer or as a voucher or other equivalent form. You may required to register an account with a reputable third party payment platform so that we can transmit cash winnings or voucher equivalents to you. In the event that you are unable to create an account on our designated third party payment platform, then unfortunately you will not be eligible to claim your prize. 5.6 We also reserve the right to decline issuing any pre-paid visa card, cash, voucher or equivalent prize altogether to any person that is located in a territory which is restricted or excluded under our third party provider’s policy concerning restricted and excluded territories. Please note that such third party policies are outside of our control and may change from time to time. 5.7 Due to local regulations, if you are located in Florida or New York the maximum prize that you can redeem is $5,000 (or voucher / non-cash equivalent value). In the event that you win a prize that is advertised to be above this value, you will only receive $5,000 and the remainder of the prize will be forfeit. 5.8 Any non-cash prizes are non-transferable and non-exchangeable. In the event that the prize requires collection or involves attendance to a particular location, the prize does not include travel or other expenses unless expressly stated otherwise. 5.9 In the event of unforeseen circumstances, we reserve the right to substitute any prize for an alternative of equal or greater value.5.10 All income and other personal taxes and filings resulting from acceptance of a prize are the sole responsibility of the winner.5.11 If a Canadian resident is deemed eligible to win a prize, in order to be awarded the prize, the Canadian resident will be required to correctly answer a time-limited mathematical skill question.6. WINNER NOTIFICATION, VERIFICATION & PRIZE DELIVERY6.1 The tournament winner(s) will be contacted within five (5) working days of the Closing Time. The winner will be required to respond to accept the prize and provide requested details and information (including any verification information and documentation requested under clause 6.2 below) within 3 calendar days of initial contact. We will make all reasonable efforts to contact the winner by email. If the winner cannot be contacted or does not respond, the prize will be forfeit. 6.2 We reserve the right to verify the eligibility of tournament participants including age, identity and location. We may require such information and documents as we consider reasonably necessary for this purpose and a prize may be withheld unless and until we are satisfied with the verification. If these checks are unable to verify your age or location, or do not match up to the details you provided upon registration, we reserve the right to withhold any prizes won and close your account.6.3 To enable the delivery of prizes, participants will be required to provide delivery details. For prizes delivered electronically, this will usually be your name and email address, but additional details may be required particularly in the case of physical prizes. 7. PUBLICITY7.1 By participating in the tournament, you acknowledge and agree that we will publish your screen name on the tournament leaderboard. 7.2 If you are the winner of the tournament, you agree that we may use your information (including your username) to announce the winner of this tournament and for any other reasonable and related promotional purposes.8. DISQUALIFICATION AND ACCOUNT CLOSURE8.1 Our decisions are final and binding in all matters relating to any tournament and no correspondence shall be entered into. 8.2 We reserve the right to disqualify and close the account of any participant we reasonably believe is attempting to fraudulently enter, cheat, or compromise the system by any means. If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these General Rules or any Specific Rules (to extent applicable), we may, at our sole discretion, disqualify you from any tournament, withhold any prizes won and close your account.8.3 We may also close your account at any time for business and operational reasons. If you are not suspected of breaching any terms, any tournament entries and prizes won at the time of account closure will stand. 9. RELATIONSHIP WITH FREE GAME DEVELOPERS9.1 Casino.org is not affiliated with, sponsored by or otherwise associated with any of the developers of the slots and/or other free-to-play casino games which are featured on the website and in the tournaments. Any intellectual property rights relating to the third party brands featured on Casino.org belong to their respective owner and Casino.org does not claim that it owns or licenses any such intellectual property rights.10. OUR LIABILITY10.1 Nothing in this Clause 10 shall exclude or limit Casino.org’s liability for death or personal injury as a result of negligence. 10.2 Casino.org, its owners, directors, officers, employees, agents or distributors will not, in any circumstances, be responsible or liable for any liability, damage, loss or injury suffered by any participant in entering a tournament or as a result of accepting or utilising any prize won.10.3 Furthermore, we shall not be liable for any act, omission, event or circumstance occurs which is beyond our reasonable control. This shall include, but not be limited to, a technical malfunction that improperly scores tournaments or enables entries that are not in accordance with these rules. 10.4 Our maximum liability to you in connection with tournaments, whether in contract, tort (including negligence) or for breach of statutory duty or in any other way shall in no circumstances exceed the value of the prizes on offer for the tournament(s) in question. 10.5 Tournaments are provided “as is”. We do not guarantee that the tournaments will always be available or will be uninterrupted or error free.11. DATA PROTECTION11.1 You acknowledge that any information you provide Casino.org either through registration, use of Casino.org or in connection with tournaments will be processed in line with our Privacy Policy. 12. UPDATES12.1 We may update these General Rules, and any Specific Rules, from time to time.12.2 We will take reasonable steps to bring any material changes to your attention.12.3 In the event that you continue to access your account after any changes have been made, we will treat this as your unqualified acceptance of such changes.
